Happy New Year to all in the Leicestershire Rugby Union and community. We hope you have all enjoyed a happy Christmas and festive break.
Now that everyone is well rested, we can look forward to a bumper weekend of rugby across the county.
Saturday 6th January sees teams running out for the majority of clubs with some putting out 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Vets. The main match to keep your eyes on will be a local derby between Leicester Lions and Hinckley at TMDP Park, Blaby. Kick Off is 2pm. Hinckley currently sit top of the table in National 2 North, with Lions in 7th. Lions will be gunning for a home win, particularly after they lost by a mere 3 points away to Hinckley in September. It will be a tight match and one to drop by and support.
Also this weekend is the U16’s boys Super Sunday at Loughborough University artificial pitch. Run in conjunction with Leicester Tigers, Leicestershire boys will be playing against Staffordshire, KO 11.30am. There will be some promising talent on display for this match with 31 boys having been selected following a training session on Tuesday evening. Clubs from across the county are represented. This is a free event, so please come along and show your support. Leicestershire run an excellent programme that supports players from U16’s through to U20’s and seniors. We are developing many quality players, who will surely follow in the footsteps of some of Leicestershire’s greatest.
Not forgetting our ladies, we have 3 matches on Sunday for Loughbrough, Ashby and Old Newts.
Good Luck everyone and here’s to another successful season and 2018!
