Leicester Lions Girls section goes from strength to strength

29

Jan 2017

It was a pleasure to be invited to Leicester Lions RFC to see the newly formed girls section have their team photo taken in their new playing kit. With 17 players between 13 and 18 years, the section is developing rapidly, which is fantastic news for women and girls rugby in the county. We look forward to seeing this section grow along with women and girls rugby county wide.

U16’s win at Melton Mowbray RFC against Eastern Counties

24

Jan 2017

It was a very cold start to the day, but by the afternoon the morning’s frost had gone for a great afternoon of rugby.  The two sides were fairly evenly matched on the day, but Leicestershire demonstrated a little more grit and better executed their chances.

Hosted by Melton Mowbray RFC, after four tries to two, plus one conversion, the final score was 24-10 to Leicestershire.

Players representing the County yesterday came from a variety of clubs (Market Harborough, Vipers, Loughborough, Syston, Leicester Forest, Oadby Wyggestonians and Lutterworth) aswell as players from the Tigers Player Development Group.

We look forward to seeing more from these boys at their next match against Staffordshire at Lichfield RFC  on 5th February KO 1:00pm. Good luck!

Important information regarding Safeguarding

30

Nov 2016

The RFU would like to remind everyone involved in the game of the importance of providing a safe and positive environment for our young players.

The RFU’s Safeguarding Policy, Toolkit and RFU Regulation 21 sets out requirements and aims to assist clubs in ensuring that the welfare of children remains of paramount importance. The RFU also offer clubs an effective safeguarding training programme for all members of the game. It is strongly recommended that anyone involved in rugby (specifically those within the under the age 18 game) attend. Further information on training can be found on the England Rugby website.

If you have questions or concerns, you should contact the LRU safeguarding team in the first instance who will be happy to advise.

County AGR Festival matches showcase Rugby Core Values

27

Nov 2016

Sunday 27th was a day of county festival matches held at the following 4 clubs: South Leicester, Market Bosworth, Market Harborough and Vipers. Age groups U9 to U13 were represented by clubs from across the county and with the new rules of play effective from September 2017, players, coaches and spectators were given a great display of the RFU core values – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

The number of tries scored were taken into consideration along with a number of other factors to reflect the core values. It was a pleasure to see some great rugby from all age groups, and a pleasure to see respect for all involved.

Thank you to the hosting clubs and we look forward to seeing all the teams in the next invitational later in the season.
