All adults involved in Rugby including parents/guardians have a duty of care to safeguard all players and young people under the age of 18 and this includes the use of Social Media.

Can you please ensure that all Club/Team Pages are closed and that members of the group do not tag people from outside of the group into statuses and photos etc.

The LRU and RFU monitor posts on a regular basis and a number of posts including under age drinking and drinking games have been spotted and asked to be removed.

We do not condone under age drinking of any kind and anyone caught could have a detrimental effect on the Club.

We can’t turn a blind eye to this and in future if reported to us we will forward to the RFU to hand out sanctions.  So please monitor what is being shared on social media.

Schools competition results

It has been fantastic to see a number of schools on the county taking part in the Leicestershire schools competition for ages U14, U15, U16 and U18.

Matches have been played over the last few months with the U14’s and U15’s finals played at Leicester Grammar school on 21st March and U16’s and U18’s on 30th March.

Super, Sunny Sunday of Youth Rugby in Leicestershire

Wow, what a day! The sun took it’s hat off and shone down on Market Bosworth RFC and the Vipers RFC today, Sunday 2nd April for county finals day.

Vipers RFC hosted the following finals:
Under 14’s Plate – Market Bosworth v South Leicester Kick off 10.30am
Under 14’s Cup – Hinckley V Loughborough Kick off 11.45am
Under 17’s Cup – Leicester Forest V Loughborough Kick off 1pm

Market Bosworth RFC hosted a full day of matches for the U9 – U11’s county festival. 

Clubs were represented from across the county with some excellent displays of rugby. All the children, coaches and supporters showed a great display and reinforcement of the rugby Core Values with all the children receiving medals for taking part in the day’s games, presented by Brian Hesford, Leicestershire Rugby Union President.

A big thank you goes out to all of you who attended and took part, but in particular everyone at Market Bosworth RFC for hosting the finals. It was a long day and the BBQ was kept alight so everyone was fed and watered! Thank you.

U16’s Plate final

On a fine, sunny, albeit windy morning at Coalville RFC, Loughborough U16’s played Ashby in the county plate final.

After a thrilling game, Loughborough came through to beat Ashby. Congratulations! FT 41 – 31

County U15’s plate and U16’s Cup final at Coalville RFC

It has been a weekend packed of rugby around the county. As well as England winning the 6 Nations and Tigers the Anglo-Welsh Cup, we’ve had some of our county junior finals.

After having to postpone the fixtures due to poor pitch quality, two of the matches were played on Sunday 19th at Coalville RFC. The U15’s Plate final between Oadby Wyggs and Lutterworth, kicked off at 10.30am. In a closely played match Oadby Wyggs, came out on top to win the match. Final score 36 – 24.

       

The second match was U16’s Cup Final between Syston and Market Harborough with Market Harborough the overall winners. Final score 12 – 21.

     

The presentation was made by Pauline Harding, Leicestershire Rugby Union President Elect.

It was great to see lots of support for all the teams on the sidelines also, and watching some talented boys playing and enjoying rugby. Thank you to all who came along and to all the event organisers for the hard work involved in running the cup. Thank you also to Coalville for hosting.
