The awards recognise and celebrate volunteers across Rugby for their achievements over the past 12 months.
To recognise the outstanding contribution that volunteers have made to both their rugby clubs and the wider community, this year’s national awards programme focus on three specific categories:
- Game for All
- Unsung Hero
- Challenging Spirit
This year, we saw 31 people being nominated in Leicestershire and Rutland, all in the Unsung Hero category.
All nominees were invited to enjoy watching the colts and senior county cup finals from The Clubhouse along with food and drinks before being presented with their awards from Peter Wheeler, past President RFU plus ex-England and county player.
From the 31 nominees, the Executive Committee shortlist 3 people to put through to the RFU volunteer recognition team to then select who will going to Twickenham for the final awards were one person will be named Volunteer of the Year.
This year, our shortlist was:
Mike Fletcher, Market Harborough RFC
David Norris, Birstall RFC
Clare Morris, Oadby Wyggs RFC
Clare Morris was selected to go through to the finals at Twickenham. Congratulations Clare!
