The mission of LooseHeadz is to save lives.
They’re doing this by placing a mental health lead at every rugby club around the world & providing them with a toolkit of free resources to support the mental fitness of players, coaches & fans.
The LooseHeadz Story
Like all good rugby stories, LooseHeadz started at the end of a rugby club bar.
During the 2017 British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand, three friends stood chatting about their rugby stories & rugby journeys, but perhaps more importantly, our mates who at the time seemed to be struggling with a ‘life wobble’. Not being experts, there was little more we could do other than tell them “it’ll be alright, fancy another beer?”
That feeling of impotence led us to form what is now known as LooseHeadz, a charity with a singular mission of saving lives by placing a mental health lead at every rugby club around the world.
Since that fateful conversation, we have been joined on the journey by a panel of experts in the mental health field who have helped formulate our toolkit, ensuring it is as impactful as possible for clubs at every level of the game.
We are also supported by over 50 ambassadors from the games top flight, the RFU, WRU, SRU, Premiership Rugby, URC & MLR. In 2024, LooseHeadz was also announced as one of the official charity partners of the British & Irish Lions Trust.
